OVERSEER ON COUNTY ISSUES

Your membership lends weight to what is probably the most important role of our Association.  The President and/or other Board members regularly attend various meetings on your behalf.  These primarily include the regular Board of County Commissioners meetings and Planning Commission meetings.  Where appropriate because of special issues, we also attend meetings of the South Florida Water Management District, The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, FKAA, etc.  At these meetings, your officers frequently speak out in support of issues affecting your welfare.

In many cases, it becomes important for Commissioners or others conducting meetings to recognize strong support for or against certain issues.  At such times, we may call upon our members to make an appearance at such meetings.  They can show their support merely through their appearance with a show of hands or they may even speak out on the issue if they choose to do so.
